Pirates Of The Caribbean Ships Views
HMS Interceptor is the fictional ship that appeared in the 2003 film Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. The Interceptor is portrayed by the tall ship Lady Washington, a full-scale replica of the real Lady Washington, an 18th century sloop that was later refitted as a brig. More information about it is on the Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl Collector's Edition DVD featurette called Diary of a Ship. While the Interceptor was a real tall ship, the other two vessels were fakes; the Dauntless was a barge with an outer wooden shell simulating a ship, and the Black Pearl was both a set on barge and a set on land. A floating (non-authentic) Pearl was built for the second and third movies. In displacement vessels, hull speed increases with waterline length. Since the Interceptor/Lady Washington is, in reality, a relatively small boat she has a hull speed of around 10 knots.
In Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, it is hailed as the fastest ship in the Caribbean. HMS Interceptor is first seen when Jack Sparrow attempts to board it (with the intention of stealing the ship) while most of the Royal Navy is attending Commodore James Norrington's promotion ceremony. After Will Turner frees him from prison, Jack schemes to commandeer the Interceptor by pretending to hijack Norrington's command ship, the Dauntless. His plan succeeds and he heads off with the ship. Will and Jack recruit a new crew in Tortuga after Will promises to give the Interceptor to Anamaria. They arrive at Isla de Muerta and after a series of events engage in a fight with the Black Pearl. The Interceptor is sunk after the battle.
The Fleet of the Brethren Court numbered fewer ships than the East India Trading Company's Armada but included all types of pirate vessels: galleons, sloops, junks, galleys, schooners, ketches... The Black Pearl is the flagship. Like with Beckett's armada, only the flagship engaged in battle ultimately. The Black Pearl defeats the Flying Dutchman with Davy Jones being killed by Will Turner and the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman (now under Will's command and thus now on the pirates side) destroying the Endeavour and killing Beckett, causing the rest of Beckett's armada to retreat without the rest of the Brethren Court fleet having to fight.
This Royal Navy frigate makes its first appearance in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. The ship is captained by Hector Barbossa, a privateer in the service of England and a trusted advisor on the Court of George II of Great Britain. When Blackbeard begun to search for the Fountain of Youth, the HMS Providence was sent to pursue him.
