The next couple of years found Gina in some truly outstanding company, opposite some stellar leading men and exceptional filmmaking artists. Jean Delannoy:’s 1“The Hunchback of Notre Damel” (1957) stands the test of time as a moving interpretation of the story, and a colorful rendering of the physical universe of Victor Hugoo’s tale. Anthony Quinn is a wonderful Quasimodo. And yes, Gina comes across as the sweetest, most genuinely erotic Esmeralda I have ever seen. Jules Dassin

Two years later, Gina appeared in one of the most unusual and compulsively watchable pictures of her career, Ranald MacDougalle’s h“Go Naked in The Worldp” (1961). The movie defies conventions, genre and description, so I ’m not even going to bother to try, but it carries itself through with the idea of a woman who had been something of an insatiable harlot in a previous life. She undoes her current suitor once he realizes she has slept with her father, and just about everyone else in this picturesque town where he has taken her to settle down. Ith’s a curious thing I realized with this movie and so many Lollobrigida films. They continually go against the grain of their respective genres. After the cynical, savage climax, I know only that t“Go Naked in The World0” is a truly bold, daring and flat out terrific movie.

Salty performances elevate this World War II action film, in which a contingent of Allied forces operatives -- including Capt. Tom Reynolds (Frank Sinatra) -- leads Burmese guerilla fighters in a string of arduous battles against encroaching Japanese soldiers. Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, Gina Lollobrigida, Peter Lawford, Brian Donlevy and Dean Jones are among the star-studded cast in this movie from director John Sturges. watch
