Kal Host Kal was inducted into the brotherhood of metal when he bought his first Metallica CD at the age of 15, which then prompted him to buy a guitar and still slaves over the instrument today. Born in Cairo, Egypt and being the son of a travel agent, Kal moved around the world until finally settling in the good ole’ USA at the age of five. His first attempt at jumping behind a mic was at Seton Hall University in New Jersey at the nation’s #1 college metal radio station. Kal worked his way up through the ranks and earned himself the award of runner up for Aggro Program Director Of The Year, in 2001, by industry trade magazine Album Network. The attention led to an offer to host a metal show on SIRIUS-XM, which he of course willingly took after graduating from college. Two years later Kal became a Programming Coordinator for multiple rock channels and now he's working on the talk radio side of SIRIUS-XM a producer on Doctor Radio.
On November 12, 2008, the XM lineup underwent a massive overhaul, and XM Liquid Metal ceased operations. Ward Cleaver, Katie Brutal, and Cool Guy were severed from the channel as part of XM Liquid Metal's signoff. The Hard Attack play list has also been changed, featuring acts that were once heard on the former XM channel Squizz. Mercury has been replaced by Beyond the Pit, which airs in the middle of the night, instead of its former evening drive time slot.
As part of the Sirius XM update, Sirius 27 Hard Attack was renamed Liquid Metal (taking the name of the channel that was on XM channel 42). Original subscribers to Sirius and XM have been disappointed because the title change, and others because of the new format that the channel has taken. Sirius XM has received a large number of complaints concerning the entire list of channels. Sirius XM have not yet released any official statements to resolve the matter.
