Murano glass Christmas trees are brilliant, colorful little treasures. They're hand-made, mouth blown art glass from an island off the coast of Venice, Italy. Most Italian glass Christmas trees are 6-10 inches tall. There are hundreds of colors and styles. Some have a smooth conical shape, others are ribbed or fluted, and some have pulled tips or branches. You can find them with twisted glass threads, millefiori, swirls of gold or silver mica, and more. I've been collecting these for several years and have 20. As I write this eHow article, there are six vintage Murano glass trees listed on ebaY. Prices on today's listings range from $13 to $100. As it gets closer to Christmas, in October and November, there is usually a rush of listings, many more to choose from, and alot of variety in what you will see. Blue or purple glass is rare in a Murano tree, so these are priced accordingly. Trees that are taller than 10 " often go for a premium. Trees made of millefiore and gold dust are exquisite.
