The seat is made of laminated plywood of graduated thickness, from 15 plys to 5 plys at the thin edge of the shell. Reissued in exacting detail from the original drawings and molds, the side chair is strong, lightweight and like the original, made entirely in the U.S.A.

Designed by Norman Cherner in 1958, the original Cherner chair, with its molded plywood seat and back, and arms formed from a single piece of bent solid beech, can be found in design collections and galleries worldwide. The Cherner Chair Company, run by Cherner r sons, has now re-created this design classic from the original drawings and moulds. All of the timber used in its construction is from a sustainable source. A side chair model is also available.

The Cherner chair is found in design collections worldwide, including the Vitra Museum. The Cherner Side Chair combines graceful and slender laminated legs with a one-piece molded plywood seat. The Cherner Chairt's molded plywood seat utilizes a unique construction of laminated plywood of graduated thickness. The number of plies varies from 15 at the l'throatd' of the seat to 5 laminations at the seatt's perimeter. This feature, plus the molding of compound curves, permits a structurally superior design which is sculpted in form and posture supporting. The side chair is available in either European Beech or Walnut face veneers . Beech chairs are available in 3 different shades including natural, ebony and Stella orange. Walnut is available in Walnut only.
