London Tea Shop Views
Twinings have had a tea shop on The Strand in London since 1717. The Strand shop stocks a wide range of specialty teas, fruit and herbal infusions, iced teas, and coffee blends, as well as gifts, teapots, cups, mugs, biscuits, cakes, and chocolates. There is also a small museum, which charts the history of the Twinings family, along with examples of tea caddies and more unusual items from the world of tea.
This was the perfect little tea shop to take my sister, who was missing London. I think it's actually owned by Brits, so it's authentic. We were impressed with the tea, (even though they were out of the Lavender Earl Grey) and the scones. It put us in a nice, relaxing mood, so we mosied over to the next-door furniture store, English Living. Beautiful store! We felt like we had been transported to London for the afternoon! Sometime, when I'm feeling fancy, I'd like to go in for the afternoon tea.
A cute place! I am all for a quaint little teashop amongst all the hustly bustly clubs downtown. Very roomy for downtown retail shoppes. The prices here aren't that bad for a simple tea (for downtown) and they let you know if you're tea still needs to steep a bit more when they bring it to your table for maximum flavour. I am using British spelling now just by thinking about their simple, almost stereotypical London decor and china, that puts you in a London state of mind. I didn't know that can happen in STL!
