Set five years after the events of the film, the game lets players assume the role of 'Marauder Zero Six' as they assault the planet Hesperus which has been invaded by the Arachnids. The game features footage from both the original Starship Troopers and Hero of the Federation films for pre-mission briefings and has a small, cameo voice-over from Casper Van Dien introducing the first mission, along with his popular line Come on, you apes! Do you want to live forever?! [1]

Publisher Empire Interactive announced today that Starship Troopers is officially gold, meaning production on the game based on the film (based on the book) is now complete. Rooted firmly in Paul Verhoeven's interpretation of Robert Heinlein's novel about an epic battle of humankind against a menacing planet of bugs, developer Strangelite's Starship Troopers has Roughnecks plowing through literally hundreds of bugs at a time in onslaught after onslaught. The game's advanced engine allows for well over a hundred alien creatures at a time to bring the hellacious bug fights to life. Starship Troopers is slated to ship next month.
