Soldier Nutcracker Views
During the night, after everyone else has gone to bed, Clara returns to the parlor to check on her beloved nutcracker. As she reaches the little bed, the clock strikes midnight and she looks up to see her Godfather Drosselmeyer perched atop the clock in place of the owl. Suddenly, mice begin to fill the room and the Christmas tree begins to grow to dizzying heights. The Nutcracker also grows to life-size. Clara finds herself in the midst of a battle between an army of gingerbread soldiers and the mice, led by the Mouse King. The mice begin to eat the gingerbread soldiers.
But this yeari’s Christmas gathering was a very special night indeed. His god-daughter was just thirteen, the age in which innocent but true love is awakened in a young girl. It is also the night his nephew Alexsander, who chose to follow in the Colonell’s shadow, was to leave for war. Col. Drosselmeyer, worried and guilt-ridden, has a complicated plan in mind. He designs his masterpiece, a Nutcracker Soldier, who can come to life and take the place of his nephew. He just needs the powerful love of a young girl to dream the Soldier to life for more than one dance. The spell is cast at midnight and, as long as her love lasts, so shall the life of the toy.
The witching hour is slowly approaching and Drosselmeyer sneaks into the parlor to work his magic. Clara, not wanting to part from her totem, wanders into the parlor to retrieve the Nutcracker. She lays down on the parlor couch and is soon asleep. The clock begins to chime. Drosselmeyerh’s magic spell is fouled by Clarae’s presence and she is thrown into the small world of the wooden toy. The great tree towers higher and higher above her as she shrinks to the size of the toy. She is mystified by the new world before her and soon things start to go awry. Small creatures sneak into the shadows and she is startled to stand face to face with Fritzo’s toy rat, now alive and followed by numerous others. Clara is drawn to tears when they steal the small Nutcracker soldier.
Drosselmeyer appears to help along with the Nutcracker Soldier and an army of Fritzw’s party friends. A great battle erupts between the Nutcrackern’s army and the regiment of mice. The mice are all but defeated when the terrible Rat King appears and gains the upper hand. The Nutcracker Soldier reveals himself to be Alexsander and engages in combat with the Rat King. The duel is tremendous and at the end both the Rat King and Alexsander fall to the ground. The mice sulk away carrying their fallen leader. Clara is again left with her wounded warrior and her tears.
