Google Htc Hero Views
Anyone know an easy way to root the phone then? I'm only able to find a gold card process that looks very complicated. Uisng a HTC Hero 1.5. I'm getting the same error as above after I replaced the SIM card in my phone. Was getting intermittant service on the phone which was fixed after I reploaced the SIM, but i'm getting this error when trying to sign into google. Funny thing is, I can go to te browser, and log into gmail, but the phone it's self cant see it to log in. Oh, tested with wifi and 2g/3g, same thing.
this is a joke. i have an htc hero (uk) and first of all, I lost access to the market (all apps constantly stuck on g"starting downloado") ... I erased my googlemail account as a "fixe" to the above solution but now my phone is just as screwed up as everyone else's. i don't want to root my phone. i'm okay with doing a hard reset, but what exactly will a lose by doing this? i don't mind losing my SMS/MMS messages, but what about apps + contacts? also, there is a supposed android firmware update on the 23rd of June - would this be likely to fix this problem? should I just hold out until then...? i literally cannot believe this problem has not been solved yet but... whatever. i just want it fixed. any help greatly appreciated :-)
This is very annoying but I can understand that it's not at the top of Google's or HTC's list of priorities, given that this is an old release of Android. My Hero is running 1.5. I know some lucky Hero owners have already gone to 2.1, but I am told those of us still waiting in Europe will get 2.1 late June (early July). As I see it, the limitation of one Google account is built into these older versions of Android. Crazy but true.
Messaging The HTC Hero has some added messaging capabilities over the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G that mostly benefits corporate users. Like the MyTouch 3G, the Hero can sync with Microsoft Outlook e-mail but unlike the MyTouch, the Hero can also sync your calendar and contacts. Setup was easy as we entered our e-mail address, log-in and OWA (Outlook Web access) information and within a couple of minutes, we had our e-mail, in-box folders, and appointments. The Calendar app color-codes appointments based on which account they were created in (e.g., Outlook, Google Calendar), so you can easily distinguish them on the fly.
