Electric Curler Views
Electric curlers, which are sometimes called hot rollers, are the safest and easiest way to add volume, curl, and dimension to your hair. It's easy to burn yourself or your hair with curling irons, perms are very damaging to hair and can look unnatural growing out, and velcro and foam rollers are not particularly effective. Here you will learn how to prepare your hair for the curlers, how to separate and curl each section, and how to remove the curlers and finish your hairstyle.
Start curling the sections in the front of your hair. Whether your hair is long or short, the traditional method for sectioning and curling hair is that the sections that frame your face should be curled towards the front, while the remaining sections (the bulk of your hair) should be curled towards the back. This means that the front, center section (bangs) should be sectioned off with the comb, pulled towards the front, and brushed through. You will take the curler in between your face and the hair in this section, begin at the ends of the hair, and start rolling under until you have reached the roots. Pin the curler in such a way that you will not dent the curl. Your electric curler set's instruction manual should include a picture of how to pin them to avoid dents, as each model varies. The sections that are on the sides of your face, framing your face, should be curled in the same direction.
Remove your electric curlers carefully by unrolling them. Spray your hair with hairspray and let dry. Then run your fingers through to separate curls. For a more voluminous look, brush through curls gently and use your fingers to re-twist the ends a little bit. After one last spritz of hairspray, you are ready!
While it's unlikely that you will burn or electrocute yourself or start a fire with electric curlers (they are much safer than curling irons in this regard), they are still an electric device that becomes very very hot, and you should take the appropriate caution to find a place away from water, children and pets, and flammable objects to plug in your electric curler set. Also, you MUST remember to unplug them as soon as you have finished putting the curlers in your hair.
