El Borak is Arabic for The Swift . It is the name given to him in Afghanistan due to his speed and quickness. This is most often represented as his speed in drawing his pistol or attacks with another weapon but can also represent his mental agility as well. Both are the defining traits of the character.

El Borak described as shorter than other characters and he has a slender figure. Nevertheless, he is described as compact and quite strong. His defining physical ability, however, is the quickness that inspired his pseudonym. El Borak describes his ancestry as Highland Scot and Black Irish, he has black hair but has black eyes instead of the blue typical of the Black Irish.

Robert E. Howard’s Savage Sword #2 The second issue of this comic featuring Howard’s heroes in new adventures and restored, re-colored reprints of classic tales will be available in late May. This issue will feature Conan, El Borak, Dark Agnes, Sailor Steve Costigan, other Howard characters, and Roy Thomas and Gil Kanet’s long-out-of-print classic, 0“The Valley of the Worm.”

Robert E. Howardo’s Savage Sword #1 Continuing their tradition of bringing Robert E. Howardn’s incomparable characters to life, Dark Horse will be publishing the inaugural issue of Robert E. Howardp’s Savage Sword in late December. The first issue features a recolored version of Roy Thomas, Barry Windsor-Smith and Tim Conrad’s adaptation of “Worms of the Earth.” Also featured is a new El Borak adventure written by Mark Finn and illustrated by Tim Bradstreet.  Writers Marc Andreyko and Paul Tobin, along with artists Robert Aktins and Esad Ribic are also featured, along with a number of other talented folks. This volume is perfect bound and runs 80 pages.
