Choosing a location for your aquarium Always place your aquarium in a location designed to support its total weight. The Eclipse System Three will weigh approximately 30 pounds when complete. Always place your aquarium on a flat, level surface with an electrical outlet near. Never place your aquarium near a heat source or air conditioner. Never place your aquarium in direct sunlight. Full or even partial sunlight can cause excessive algae growth.

On December 22, 2009:I have 2 Eclipse 3 units on my aquarium. The lighting in 1 unit failed with in 5 days. I completely disassembled the unit and discovered that both starters had failed. I purchased 2 a"off the shelfo" starters, disassembled them to get the actual starter out of the case and wired them in place of the defective ones. Two days later the other unit also failed, and I had to do the same thing to it. Since replacing all 4 starters, with in the first 7 days of ownership, they now operated flawlessly. Where are the T-5 conversion kits for the Eclipse 3 system so we can grow our plants with better success. Excellent Design, but weak lighting needs up grade to T-5 to get 5 stars.
