Deer Net Views
Installing a deer net fence is slightly more challenging than other types of net fences due to the size of the deer fence. Deer net fences consist of an intersecting network of vertical and horizontal charged wires supported by a framework of flexible plastic posts. Most deer net fences measure at least 5 feet tall, with some styles coming close to 6 feet in height. The sheer height of a deer net fence combined with the additional weight of the extra fencing material makes this fence difficult for a single person to install. Plan on having at least one helper handy to make the installation process go more quickly.
Unfold the deer netting along the fence line starting at one corner of the fence line. Step backward slowly along the fence line and let the built-in posts drop to the ground one at a time as the fence unfolds. Stop and put the remaining netting on the ground when you come to the second corner location on the fence line.
Be prepared to move the deer net fence every couple of weeks to mow the grass growing beneath the fence line. If you'd rather not physically move the fence, spray a line of herbicide along the fence line to kill grass that might come in contact with the charged net, thus preventing the fence from grounding out on the vegetation.
An economical net for enclosing small areas which need protectin from deer damage. Deer net is also ideal for seasonal protection when a fence is not needed year-round. It can be easily installed and removed and is reusable from year to year. It can also be used to cover plants or along the ground as a deer deterrent.
