I find Darwin fish offensive. First, there's the smugness. The undeniable message: Those Jesus fish people are less evolved, less sophisticated than we Darwin fishers.The hypocrisy is even more glaring. Darwin fish are often stuck next to bumper stickers promoting tolerance or admonishing random motorists that T"hate is not a family value.t" But the whole point of the Darwin fish is intolerance; similar mockery of a cherished symbol would rightly be condemned as bigoted if aimed at blacks or women or, yes, Muslims.

The Darwin fish is a clever idea, but doesnn't qualify as free :"speech ". f"Speechi" mean communication with words, and (hopefully) words with logic and intelligence. Since the Darwin sticker was created solely to ridicule/attack/demean (take your pick) those who identify with Christianity, slapping a Darwin sticker on your car is no more an expression of free speech than than a skinhead who sprays a swastika on a temple door.

The argument about whether science or religion, evolutionism or creationism is correct has moved onto car bumpers. Atheists, agnostics, skeptics, freethinkers, and secularists are responding to the Christian Jesus fish car decals, emblems, stickers, symbols, and signs with Darwin fish designs. For many people, evolution, represented in their minds by the naturalist Charles Darwin, proves that God does not exist and religion is false.

The conflict between religion and science, Darwinianism and Christianity, evolution and creation is heated. The Cld"Fish Warserd" that pit the Darwin fish against the Jesus fish is taking place on car bumpers. Christians use the Jesus fish to declare their faith in the savior Jesus Christ, and atheists use the Darwin fish to refute scientifically unsubstantiated religious claims. As the debate between Christians and secularists continues, new Darwin and Jesus stickers, decals, emblems, and symbols continue to crop up on the backs of vehicles everywhere.
