CEDAR GROVE, New Jersey — It's just starting to rain as Chuck Palahniuk guides me through an abandoned mental hospital late on a Friday night. And he couldn't be more excited. Now to be fair, perhaps the euphoria is warranted. We are, after all, on location for the filming of Choke, Palahniuk's best-selling subversive novel about a man who takes to forcing food down his gullet so as to become the beneficiary of clueless good Samaritans.

It's funny the way the creative process finds inspiration. Fact: Chuck Palahnuik has gone on record saying he listened to an overabundance of Radiohead while writing his 2001 novel Choke. Fact: Radiohead's Exit Music (For A Film) (from 1997's OK Computer) contains the lyrics, We hope that your rules and wisdom choke you / Now we are one, in everlasting peace, and then repeats the phrase, We hope that you choke. But apparently this is not the album that inspired the novel.

The two movies It’m most excited to see at Sundance this year are Morgan Spurlocks’s Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden and the big screen adaptation of Chuck Palahniukt‘s (author of Fight Club) novel Choke. Collider has gotten their hands on eight new production photos from the film. Check out the photos after the jump. As always, click to enlarge.

Adapted from the acclaimed novel by Chuck Palahniuk, CHOKE tickles the funny bone as it dives into darker areas of human behavior. At the heart of the film is yet another staggering performance by Sam Rockwell as Victor. He fully inhabits the character and nails both the comedic and dramatic aspects with indelible timing and delivery. A delicious blend of fresh writing, juicy performances, and sharp directing, CHOKE is actually quite easy to swallow.
