Canon 40d Battery Grip Views
I have recently purchased the Canon 40D body and am shopping for an inexpensive compatable battery grip. I was wondering what everyone thought about the Opteka Battery Grip for Canon EOS Digital Rebel & Rebel XT. I heard that it would be compatable with the 40D, was wondering if that is true. There is a huge price difference in the Opteka compared to the Canon grip. Are there other grips that would be compatable? What are your thoughts? Thanks for the input. You need the BG e2 or BG e2N (weathersealed version.) Be careful when looking for grips that you get one thats compatible with the **D range. This will include grips for the 10D, 20D, 30D, and 40D. Grips for any other bodies i.e 5D, 400D will not fit as they take a completely different battery.Colin Southern , Feb 24, 2008; 05:49 p.m.
The batteries for the XTi are not compatible with the 40D. As Bullet Salvador stated, the 40D and the 5D share identical batteries. I went with the Canon vertical grip after too many negative reviews were posted for the Opteka and other third party units. It has been 8 months of use and the Canon grip has not failed to perform.Taffy Johnson , Feb 24, 2008; 08:52 p.m.
