Bunnies & Burrows Views
Bunnies and Burrows 1st edition is a 75-page softback, written by B. Dennis Sustare & Scott Robinson, and published by Fantasy Games Unlimited in 1976. Cover and interior illustrations are by Charles Loving. It is written in a style that has long fallen out of general use, with all major rules sections numbered in the manner of wargames of that era. Sections 1.0 a– 12.1 (48 pp) cover the rules, and sections 13.0-16.0 (22 pp) give advice on how to set up and run the game. Finally there are two appendices dealing with the rules for rabbit gambling games and discussing the availability of metal figurines. The whole is illustrated throughout with sketches of heroic rabbits performing various tasks (fighting, preparing herbs, etc.)
Bunnies & Burrows was a roleplaying game first published in 1976. Players take on the roles of rabbits or other animals, keeping the abilities and disabilities of the characters as close to real-world rabbits as possible, complete with a lack of technology, opposable thumbs and a very limited strength..
Bunnies & Burrows (B&B) is a role-playing game (RPG) inspired by the novel Watership Down.[1] Published by Fantasy Games Unlimited in 1976, the game centered on intelligent rabbits. It introduced several innovations to role-playing game design, being the first game to allow players to have non-humanoid roles, and the first to have detailed martial arts and skill systems. Fantasy Games Unlimited published a second edition of the game in 1982, and the game was modified and republished by Steve Jackson Games as an official GURPS supplement in 1992.
Building on this first edition, in 1979, B. Dennis Sustare wrote Different Worlds Present the World of Druid's Valley: A Bunnies & Burrows Campaign in Different Worlds, a magazine published by Chaosium.[5] It detailed how to combine the world of Bunnies & Burrows with other fantasy worlds.[6] This was followed by the mini-adventure The Jackrabbits' Lair , written by Daniel J. Maxfield, in Pegasus, a magazine published by Judges Guild.[7]
