CD 1 features the original and remastered soundtrack as it first appeared in 1994, twelve years after the film was released. The second CD contains all the remaining music from the film that did not appear on the original 1994 soundtrack, plus two bonus tracks (`One Alone' and `Desolation Path'). None of this material has been released before. The third and final disc will be of real interest to Vangelis fans - as it contains an entire album of newly written material composed by Vangelis to mark the 25th anniversary of Blade Runner. The music is strong and flowing, and retains the dark, atmospheric sense of the original score. There are some intriguing spoken word contributions too, from Ridley Scott, Roman Polanski, Oliver Stone and a host of distinguished actors, personalities and world dignitaries.
A 3-CD set was released in 2007 to coincide with the 5-DVD release to mark the 25th anniversary of the film. It includes the 1994 official CD along with two bonus CDs, both compiled from original material by Vangelis. The second disc includes some previously officially unreleased material, but is still not complete, omitting the Main Title track, for example. The third disc contains new material inspired by Blade Runner.
Upon further examination of the umbrella box I was struck with the exceptional graphics that covered all sides of the gold and black cardboard and the clear thick acetate windows. The box obviously was created to echo the Tyrell Corp building. On the front of the box was the familiar Blade Runner font. Under the Blade Runner lettering in a smaller font was lld"THE FINAL CUT 25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION ON DVD HI-DEF DECEMBER 18, 2007. Manuel Donayre, the Creative Director of A.D.D. Marketing and Advertising, has been working with Warner Bros. on promotion of the Final Cut DVD since Comic-Con and created the graphics for this umbrella box. Some of the lettering and graphics are obvious, like the end caps representing the Tyrell Pyramid, the checkerboard pattern from the rear of the spinner, the slanted stripes from the side of the spinner, the Tyrell window graphics printed on acetate on the back side on the box.
