Sleepers is the solo album from Big Pooh of North Carolina's Little Brother. It followed on the heels of bandmate Phonte's album with The Foreign Exchange, Connected(2004). The album features contributions and guest spots from Phonte, Nicolay, 9th Wonder and Los Angeles-based rapper MURS. It begins with an audio clip from film director Spike Lee's 1988 film, School Daze.

To be honest, this was my true motivation to listen to Sleepers in the first place. It was never really about Big Pooh, but moreso about 9th the whole time. This track is interesting because you get to see the 10-1e′th Wonder cook up an instrumental that both Pooh and MURS can comfortably glide over. Dope shit, aside from the hook which was just embarrassing.

So what to do with Big Pooh? Sleepers is solid and avoids all the totemic markings of the subpar other dude. And certainly Pooh is cognizant of his critics' free-rider accusations: You say 'Pooh, the weak nigga'/ I don't care , he jests. But Pooh lacks Phonte's sense of humor and profound wit. Sleepers gives Pooh a headstart, but his sophomore release needs to sparkle if he's to avoid a seat next to Phife on the sidelines.
