Aplets & Cotlets Views
If you are in Eastern Washington and can manage to make a stop in Cashmere, the Aplets & Cotlets Candy Factory tour would be a must. The factory tour is short but is very interesting and informative and you can then proceed to the store and purchase many choices of the World Famous candies made right there. There is something for everyone because there are so many choices. This business has always more than met my expectations, the candies are very fresh and reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend Aplets & Cotlets.
Introduced in 1920, Liberty Orchards Aplets & Cotlets have been best sellers ever since... The original recipe is still used based on the juices of crisp Washington apples and ripe apricots, slow-cooked to a smooth puree and then blended with English walnuts. Each box is evenly divided between Apple-Walnut (Aplets) and Apricot-Walnut (Cotlets) candies, which is rolled in powdered sugar and pack by hand.
Today Liberty Orchards has grown to be a geniune Northwest tradition. Each year we welcome 80,000 visitors to tour our Candy Kitchens and visit our Country Store. And when they do, they don't find a large, impersonal factory... they find townfolks making and packing Aplets & Cotlets much the same as Mark and Armen did all so many years ago.
To quote a little old lady from a hamburger chain commercial: Where's the nuts??? My advice, don't waste your time and money on this company. The product is nothing but an over sweet jellied candy with, if you're lucky, a small piece of a walnut. I recently stopped in at the plant and spent about $50 and was not only disappointed but disgusted. It was terrible. Years ago I lived in central Washington and at that time Aplets & Cotlets were a good product. Mr Taylor, perhaps you might dig into some of the old recipes that your grandparents left and learn how to make a good candy!!
