Air Suspension Valve Views
Also, since the valve block consists of 3 pieces of alloy bolted together, it is possible that the bolts can loosen or the seals between the blocks can leak, releasing air to the atmosphere. Chris Romer traced an air leak (that was causing very slow pump-up of the suspension) to the join between two of the blocks in the assembly (see red mark on the photo at right by Chris Romer).
If an air suspension system bleeds down after several days of no use, it may leave a car equipped with air suspension squatting in the driveway waiting for the next start-up. However, if an air suspension system bleeds down overnight, that may indicate a problem in the air system itself, possibly in the compressor, the hose assembly or the air suspension check valve. Troubleshooting the air suspension check valve is one way to determine the root cause of the problem.
Air Suspension Control Valves are used to automatically control the vehicle’s ride height by inflating and deflating the air suspension bellows to adjust for variations between loaded and unloaded vehicles. They are also used for cab suspensions to provide ride comfort for the operator and for bus suspension application, including kneeling capability.
To control the pressure in the air suspension bellows in proportion to the vehicle load. Levelling Valve 464 006 100 0 has an additional 3/2 directional control valve which closes from a predefined, adjustable lever angle and which takes on an exhaust function when the lever is moved further. This ”height limitation“ prevents the vehicle being raised above the permissible level by means of the raise/lower valve.
