With a very nice 1600 by 1200 pixels spread across 21.3 you get much larger and clearer text than a 19 or 21 CRT computer monitor. In this price range are workstation 22 CRT monitors that can compete in terms of resolution and image clarity but they take up entire desks, weigh over 100 pounds and cannot offer the geometric stability of an LCD.

Other Thoughts: Upgraded from a nice 17y" Sony LCD monitor, so I wanted a bigger screen, but with good image quality for photo editing, etc. Big cheap screens are plentiful, but when you dig into the reviews you see they.'re not right for image editing and a lot of other things. The Samsung is an excellent screen with very good size. 22&" screens with HDCP ith HDCP <(e?o) seem all the rage on the Windows side, but I don#'t use my machine to look at movies or anything, and all I really see with that extra inch of screen is the same resolution with a bigger dot pitch. Not sure that 's worth it. Anyway, the Samsung blows away our Dell monitors at work and is even nicer than my Sony. Works well with Linux o(just changed the modes in my xorg.conf file and the Nvidia proprietary driver did the rest, no mode lines or anything
