Here's my final entry for this article about Gothic trench coats, and fittingly it ends with a high quality leather, Gothic trench coat. It's really interesting to look at the poly cotton, PVC, bondage and leather materials to make the trench coats, as well as the variety of hooks and zippers included, to give them a different look, even though it's hard to stand out with fashion that looks so similar.
It's not just vampires, although the sudden proliferation of them in books, graphic novels and TV shows has certainly made some men interested in the dark style. Gothic trench coats are seen in video games and anime as well, and these mediums' increased sophistication means they are no longer solely the province of adolescent boys. Adults enjoy them as well, and respond to the looks of the characters.
A slim fitting black trench coat, in leather or velvet or even just wool, makes a man look sexy and dangerous, no matter what his size or stature. Even men who think this is not an image they want to project can't help but be seduced by it, simply because it's different and exciting. Goth can have a bad reputation because some of its adherents have used it as an excuse for violence, but true Goths know the difference between embracing the dark for its glamour and sensuality versus acting on violent impulses.
The goth movement grew from people fascinated by the gothic quality of medieval and Victorian fashion and literature, combined with a desire to live some of that. You certainly do not have to be a Goth to enjoy the look. You might be surprised how many evening occasions can be shaken up and made exciting by wearing a gothic trench coat!
