The Abaya is a traditional overgarment worn throughout the Middle East. Typically, it is worn over house clothing as a convenience garment (such as a Thobe, Dishdasha, or other clothing.) We offer a great selection of traditional patterns and embroidery styles m– all imported direct. Some styles are h“pull over-” /– without buttons, while others are 9“openj” or s“shoulder closeb”. These garments are designed to be worn over clothing – thus they are mostly lightweight fabrics which are suitable for all weather use – and hot temperatures.

Abaya design in Dubai has shifted away recently from styles that primarily focused on embroidery and embellishment along sleeves, to more creative cuts and draping fabric. These are a few images of Muna bin Kalli, General Director of the Dubai Ladies Club, (aka the Marie Claire abaya girl) that I scanned in from the April 2009 issue of Hia Magazine. Although not 100% hijab appropriate - the sleeves could do with lengthening for one, I do love the use of the bronze panelled fabric, and of course the Grecian-inspired cut:
