Autodesk VIZ 2008 comes from the same company that makes AutoCAD and Autodesk visual studio. Like the other programs, this program acts as a visual presentation studio, allowing users to create a highly detailed professional quality graphic model for use as a virtual prototype or for presentations. Autodesk uses several tools and features to create and edit graphics.
Although programs like Adobe Photoshop and Windows Image Editor allow the user to use and even create animation sequences that interact with images, Autodesk VIZ 2008 allows the creator to render his own animated object and to animate it as he sees fit, rather than following a template. Animations can be as simple as geometric shapes moving on a grid or complex, with detailed backdrops, relevant lighting and detailed, fully maneuverable models.
Part of a large family of programs that deal with different aspects of office and design professional programs such as Autodesk 3D Studio, Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD, the VIZ 2008 gains an advantage through compatibility. VIZ 2008 is compatible with all Autodesk programs and has interchangeable file formats that can operate completely in any one of the programs mentioned. This means a prototype can be created in Autodesk Inventor, animated and sequenced in 3D Studio and put together with a larger presentation in VIZ 2008. Although VIZ 2008 includes many features of 3D Studio and Inventor, the other programs have more detailed, specialized and customizable tools to work with.
Like other Autodesk programs, VIZ 2008 requires a computer that can handle a large amount of graphic processing and rendering. Specifically, VIZ 2008 is supported by Microsoft Windows XP, Vista and 7. Also required are Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 or higher and DirectX 9.0c. The minimum processor required for VIZ 2008 is Pentium IV or AMD Athlon speed, although a dual core processor is highly recommended. RAM required amounts to 512 megabytes, although at least 2 gigabytes is recommended.
