Shepard Fairey Pittsburgh Views
The Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand exhibit at The Andy Warhol Museum is over but his artwork is still lingering around. If you are wondering how he got those creepy looking faces all over the buildings around town, watch the TV above as he and his crew hit up the Brillobox in Lawrenceville. He also talks a little about the difference between the art community in Pittsburgh and New York (and how the Burgh is better!).
Word on the street (and twitter) is that Shepard Fairey will be here in Pittsburgh for a Netroots Nation party on friday night. Music by Viper Soul Club (an IheartPGH favorite) and special guest DJ appearance by Shepard Fairey. The party is hosted by MoveOn.org, Obey Giant, and Netroots Nation. And you might have seen one of the politically charged posters he wheat-pasted on walls around Pittsburgh in August and earlier this month. A couple of those murals are mounted on a building across the street from The Andy Warhol Museum, where an exhibition of 250 of his works, =“Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand,t” opened Oct. 17.
As Itrs"m sure that you know, Shepard Fairey: Supply and Demand opens at the Andy Warhol Museum this October. As if to verify his street cred amidst the glitter of the opening of this 20-year retrospective show and his recent surge in mainstream popularity, Fairey has been making his mark around the Pittsburgh area. Glad to see him continue to stay true to his roots.
