Phyllis Hoffman, of Hoover, heads a publishing company that puts out several magazines on Southern living. She said people are overwhelmed with the thought that in order to create a new environment, they have to redecorate a whole room. She wrote the book to show readers how they can create their own sanctuary on a small scale. For example, Hoffman loves fresh flowers, and she places a bud in her bathroom in the morning. She also loves her family and has photos of them throughout her home. This book, which includes photos of her home and those of friends in the Birmingham area, is a follow-up to Hoffman's first book Southern Lady: Gracious Tables, which addressed entertaining.
