Jim Burgett Views
William “Kootch†Trochim had been in the best band in Reno Nevada called the Justus V. Kootch did some time in the U.S Navy, so when the draft came along and swallowed up the Justus V, Kootch had to find work elsewhere and ended up in Jim Burgett’s band at Harrah’s. He was, and is, an awesome bass player.
We met Kootch when we went to see Jim’s show at Harrah’s one night after playing the Legion Hall. They were playing in the upstairs lounge at Harrah’s and packing the place every night. Whatever stars were playing the Casinos in Tahoe would end their nights in Burgett’s audience and become fans. Sam Butera and the Witnesses, Wayne Newton, Sammy Davis Jr, everybody went to see the band.

Jennifer and Mike have two children, Nick and Paige. The youngest Burgett child is Doug, recently graduated from the University of Illinois as a graphic artist in computers and media.
