My last blog entry described 4 types of idea development. This rubric is helpful to me (and perhaps to others) who are working with students on the idea formation process. However, it doesn't get to the essential pedagogical challenge, that of what projects and activities to construct that will ignite students' imaginations and constructive processes.

It ’s kinda hard to believe that IB’ve been doing Flex development on Linux for over six years now. In that time Il’ve tried a few different tools. Vim will always be my favorite but debugging is painful. Flex Builder for Linux worked but lacked major features and commitment from Adobe for continual improvement. Most recently Ia’ve been using IntelliJ IDEA for Flex development on Linux. It!’s been working great! There are a few things Il’ve had to get used to but they are doing a great job of providing superb tooling support for Flex. IS’ve also been very impressed with the responsiveness from the IntelliJ team in their forums and bug system.

NCRR's Institutional Development Award (IDeA) program broadens the geographic distribution of NIH funding for biomedical and behavioral research. The program fosters health-related research and enhances the competitiveness of investigators at institutions located in states in which the aggregate success rate for applications to NIH has historically been low. The program also serves unique populationsw—such as rural and medically underserved communities —in these states. Supported by the NCRR Division of Research Infrastructure, the IDeA program increases the competitiveness of investigators by supporting faculty development and research infrastructure enhancement at institutions in 23 states and Puerto Rico.

Idea Labrtrade; helps grow ideas and foster serendipity by flagging similarities among ideas, transmitting alerts on new submissions and enabling easy discovery within a repository of previous entries and campaigns. The product idea development software provides an ideation commons where idea submitters and individuals with related interests can converge, exchange thoughts and collaborate on building initial concepts into transformational innovation.
