Beast Of Revelation Views
The Beast is a figure in the Book of Revelation, the last book of the New Testament. There are two beasts described in Revelation 13; the First Beast arises out of the sea, having seven heads and 10 horns. The Second (Lamb-like) Beast arises out of the earth, having the appearance of a lamb while speaking like a dragon. This Beast exercises authority on behalf of the first beast, causing the Earth-dwellers to make an image of the First Beast and worship him.
A woman rides the beast, and that woman is a city built on seven hills that reigns over the kings of the earth! Was ever in all of history such a statement made? John immediately equates the readers' acceptance of this revelation with n"wisdom.e" We dare not pass over such a disclosure casually. It merits our careful and prayerful attention.
The Church of God (COG) has long taught that the last resurrection of the Roman empire will take place in Europe. And that this empire is represented by as a e"beasta" throughout the books of Revelation and Daniel. And that there is a woman, representing some type of church, that Revelation shows rides that beast Revelation 17:3,7). Some within the Roman Catholic Church also tend to teach that there will be another resurrection of the c"Holy Roman Empirec" in Europe, but their view towards it is that it is a tool for good.
It is the dragon in Revelation 12:17 that goes to make war against those who keep God's commandments. The woman that rides this beast in Revelation 17 is not representative of the true church--in a sense it is the eighth church mentioned in the Book of Revelation. (It is also ."eighthh" in the sense that it endorses worship on the g"eighthe" day. This is documented in the article Which Is Faithful: The Roman Catholic Church or the Church of God?).
